WMS 7th Grade Explores Mummification in Cross-Curricular Lesson
Woodbury Middle School seventh graders are learning about ancient Egyptian mummification in a terrific cross-curricular activity.
In Science classes today, students learned about the mummification process and began their own lab to mummify apples. Students are determining which is the best solution for their apple mummification – salt, baking soda, salt and baking soda, or just air.
They will come back to their apples in about a week, and they will weigh and examine them to record the desiccation process. They will use that data as evidence and combine it with what they've learned in Social Studies for an essay about ancient Egyptian mummification.
