WMS 8th Grade Capstone Students Present Projects At ExpoFest

Eighth graders in the Woodbury Middle School Capstone Course presented their personal interest projects in the annual Expo Fest on Friday afternoon in the gym.

Students developed their projects for this Expo-style presentation event over the last two trimesters. Friday, they welcomed parents and a panel of judges that included Region 14 faculty, Board of Education members, and representatives from Skills 21 at EdAdvance. Students presented a wide array of projects that ranged fom learning a new skill or broadening learning of a favorite hobby, environmental projects, creative maker-based projects, and more.

The course is guided by WMS Library Media Specialist Aimee Shuhart and is a unique opportunity for 8th graders to engage in a rich learning experience that encompasses the Vision of a Learner attributes - taking initiative, thinking critically and creatively, collaborating and communicating effectively, demonstrating empathy, perseverance, and adapting and adjusting.
