Tiramisu. Carrot Cake. German Apple Cake with Caramel Drizzle and Cinnamon Sugar Whipped Cream. Icebox Cake with Chocolate Cream and Bananas. Chocolate Cake with a Chocolate Buttercream Frosting and Candied Strawberry. These were just some of the incredible items on the menu for the Woodbury Middle School "Chopped" Desserts edition on November 15.
Seventh and eighth-grade student teams wowed the judges with their delicious from-scratch creations. Students could choose any dessert for this, and choices were based on wanting something unique, trying something completely new, or sharing a family tradition.
"The Icebox Cake is a tradition in my family and I wanted to share it with my class," said 7th grader Michael Laudati.
The Chopped competition is the perfect way for students to show off the skills they've learned and honed in Mike Hadoulis' Culinary class during each trimester. Thank you to all the staff members who took the time to judge students' work.
